Postcard Writing Campaign

We're writing News Boosting postcards to North Carolina voters! This is a new initiative by our friends at Postcards To Swing States (Progressive Turnout Project). It was tested in Virginia in the 2025 election cycle and is now being rolled out to selected states for 2026. Voters will receive a series of news related postcards over the next several months. Our mailing date is April 2, 2026. If you want to write, fill out this google form.

The Candidates for the At-Large Guilford County Commissioner Seat

Note: Indivisible Guilford County is not endorsing any candidates for this primary. After careful consideration, the Leadership Team decided that, at this time, we cannot do justice to the significant work required for meaningful endorsements. We will instead facilitate and publicize opportunities for voters to learn about candidates. Early voting for the primary elections starts on February 12.

Save Public Education

We are partnering with Public School Strong and Down Home NC to help get the word out about the #BigUglyBill and its implications for education in our state.

There are an alarming number of people who don't know what the passing of HB-1 (the "Big Beautiful Bill") will mean for public schools across the country. The drastic funding cuts in the bill will have serious consequences for North Carolina as well.

Here's a brief snapshot:

  • overcrowded classrooms and poor learning outcomes due to growing teacher shortages

  • crumbling school buildings and failing infrastructure in schools across the state

  • staff shortages of bus drivers, cafeteria workers, and other support staff like nurses, social workers, and librarians

It can all be overwhelming and demoralizing, but we can not give up. Our children are depending on us! Here are some things that we can do:

  • Help spread the word about the funding cuts so parents and public school supporters won't be totally blindsided.

  • Invite people to get involved, no matter what their political affiliation is. If they care about public schools, we need them to join us.

  • Connect with other public school advocates so we can leverage our collective power and work together to fight the assaults on our schools.

Here's how you can take action now with Public School Strong and Down Home NC:

  • Join the monthly Public School Strong Organizing Meeting where parents, family members, educators, and supporters from across the nation gather each month to gain practical tools to promote, protect, and strengthen our public schools. Register Here

  • Go here to find updates and some of the latest news about the state of public education in North Carolina.

Sign Petition to Pause Student Loan Payments

According to an official at the Department of Education (ED), interest will begin accruing for anyone in the SAVE forbearance as early as August 1. Right now, the SAVE plan is being challenged in the courts, and the Department is claiming that a ruling from back in February requires them to resume interest.

ADD YOUR NAME: PAUSE STUDENT LOAN PAYMENTS NOW

The timing of this announcement really could not come at a worse time. While so many of us are worried about housing, food, medical, and childcare costs, we’re now being dealt another blow. Additionally, most income-driven repayment (IDR) plans are going away in the coming years due to the recent reconciliation bill, which will leave borrowers with limited repayment options and skyrocketing student loan payments. This is simply unacceptable.

Protect Ours: Donate to NC College Early Polling Site Advocacy

Donate Here

As you may have heard, the NC State Board of Elections recently eviscerated the ability of college students (especially HBCU students) to vote early by removing early voting sites on college campuses. Students at NC A&T and UNCG were NOT having it! They fought hard and spoke out, but the partisan decision was already made - likely before the meeting even took place. Read this synopsis from Guilford County BOE member Carolyn Bunker for more information.

Help them continue to fight back by raising money to get students to the polls in 2026! Shout out to Reverend Greg Drumwright for bringing this to our attention at this Justice Anita Earls event!

Funds will be used to support student transportation to the polls, advocacy efforts, and on-campus voter excitement campaigns.

ICE Out For Good

Background: This recent vote to decouple DHS funding from the rest of the government funding buys time, not solutions. The fight is now squarely on DHS and Republicans are on their back foot. Democrats have less than two weeks to press their advantage — they must hold the line and refuse to fund DHS without ironclad limits on ICE and CBP, real accountability for abuses, and clear guardrails to stop raids and intimidation. Anything less would be a failure to meet this moment. The public has done its part, and now Congress must do theirs.

Script:

Dear Senator/Representative _______,

As your constituent, I urge you to support a DHS appropriations bill that stops the violence by ICE and Border Patrol and protects our communities. The deaths of Alex Pretti and Renée Good by federal immigration agents are unacceptable and demand accountability. The current lack of oversight has put everyday people at risk.

I ask you to support legislation that:

  • Cuts all funding for ICE and CBP

  • Ends ICE and Border Patrol operations in our communities

  • Bars enforcement at sensitive locations (e.g., places of worship, schools, hospitals)

  • Prohibits targeting based on race, language, accent, employment, or location

  • Ends warrantless home entries and arrests

Every member of Congress must insist on real limits and accountability before approving any funding.

Thank you for your attention and leadership.

Spread the Word and Beat the Algorithms!

We are working with multiple partners on a new initiative to spread the word on various topics and beat the algorithm!

The idea is that one topic will be shared on one day each week and then re-shared throughout the week to beat out the algorithms of the socials. Rather than relying on scattered, short-lived outrage, the goal is to work together to create sustained, intentional campaigns that keep important issues in the spotlight and hold powerful organizations and decision-makers accountable through lawful pressure, public awareness, and collective action such as boycotts.

By shaping our own viral moments and setting the rhythm of the conversation, we can break through the usual news cycle and make sure critical stories don’t fade away. Follow this page, join the conversation, and help spread the word so we can grow this community and amplify our impact together.

Call To Action - Stop Presumptive Noncitizens Labels

North Carolina election officials are considering rules that would label voters as “presumptive noncitizens” and potentially remove them from the rolls, despite no evidence of widespread noncitizen voting in the state’s elections. This approach risks wrongly challenging and disenfranchising eligible citizens, especially if unreliable federal data systems are used to flag voters.

We must make our voices heard during the public comment period, which runs now through March 16, to oppose policies that threaten the fundamental right to vote.

Attend the Feb. 2 public hearing and urge the State Board of Elections to adopt fair, accurate methods that protect every eligible voter. Can't make it in person? No problem - leave your comments here ( https://www.ncsbe.gov/about-elections/legal-resources/rulemaking/public-comment-portal-2026-rulemaking-list-maintenance). Democracy depends on inclusive participation — stand up today to defend voting rights and ensure that errors or politics don’t silence lawful voters.

Medicaid CALL TO ACTION!!

Medicaid has been underfunded for the current fiscal year. The state's mini-budget passed in August 2025 left a $319 Million shortfall in the current budget for Medicaid (funds needed to operate the fiscal year at current capacity). NC DHHS was forced to make operational changes, to find $319 million in reduced costs. Beginning on October 1, every provider will see a minimum of a 3% rate cut, with some services being cut at 8% or 10%.

With lower rates, providers in NC could lose money on treating too many patients with Medicaid in a given month or year. This means that patients could face provider shortages and even longer wait periods before they can be seen using their Medicaid. Reducing the reimbursement rate could force providers to see fewer patients that use Medicaid, or to stop accepting Medicaid patients completely. This will accelerate the closure of rural clinics, specialists and hospitals across NC (esp. in rural areas).

What can we do about it? — Make two phone calls.

  • Look up your state Senator and state House Representative by entering your address here.

  • Then call both, using the short script below. Include your own personal story, and feel free to use your OWN words!

Hello, my name is (name) and I’m calling from (city or town). I’m worried about the cuts that have been passed onto the Medicaid providers in our state, and I’m frustrated that the NC General Assembly has left Medicaid underfunded. It’s dangerous to leave money out of our Medicaid network, and we’re counting on you to make sure that doesn’t continue. We need more health care in NC, not more Medicaid cuts! Please do the right thing and fund the health of our state. Thank you.

And you can also sign the petition here.
